Work work work

I worked for ten hours today. It was long but ok, it's not difficult work and it's good money.

Evan is going to a remote island to do geological work next week. He is being employed by a family friend to do it. I figured I'd get hold of his emplyer's number and give him a call to ask about it. I had a pretty productive conversation with him and got a bunch of different people to contact about similar sorts of work. Turns out you can be paid for two weeks on one week off to be a drilling offsider. It's hard, physical work (think hauling drilled cores out of holes and carrying them around all day) and long hours but the pay is outstanding and you get to see really remote parts of Australia which could be cool. Besides, I'll end up physically very fit as well as getting paid so it probably beats sitting in an office somewhere.

Also I am going to a house party in Perth this weekend. I only met the guy who invited me for an hour or so but he seems pretty sound so it should be good fun.

Random note: the radio stations here have a lot more variety than back home. There's a great classic rock one, some jazz stations, some random reggae that's quite cool and a bunch of others. Anyway I gotta get up at 5:30am for work tomorrow so I am going to bed now to get some sleep.
